Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is currently encircling fans of action RPGs and Soulslikes, preparing to storm the breach on 18th July on PS5. Developer A44 Games and publisher Kepler Interactive, with the assistance of IGN, have released a suitably stirring narrative trailer and an extensive look at gameplay.
Set in a world in which mortals wage perpetual war on the gods themselves, players will step into the boots of Nor Vanek, a soldier fighting to free humanity from this scourge. As the name implies, flintlock firearms will be essential in overcoming this eternal siege, as will the aid of a mysterious animal friend named, Enki, who will guide Nor in her endeavour.

Combat in Flintlock revolves around using these early firearms, with an array of pistols, muskets and blunderbusses. Set in an open world divided into three distinct regions, players will be able to get off the beaten path and undertake an assortment of side quests. NPCs encountered in the world can appear at Nor's caravan, which serves as a hub area for players to craft or upgrade pieces of their growing arsenal. Get a better test of gameplay in the extended video below.

Ashen was the first Souls-like I ever beat (and one of the hardest!). I loved it. I can't wait to see how well this turns out.
I’ll be playing this on Game Pass. I suck at soulslikes so I think this is way safer than buying the game I may end up never finishing.
I didn’t know Forspoken already had a sequel coming out.
I'm playing the PC demo and I'm digging it.
@Th3solution yeah, every game with female poc is Forspoken, good one.
Flintlock looks pretty good, I'm very very intrigued. Extended gameplay is leaving me a little concerned but whomever is creating their well edited trailers is suoer talented; really great film making.
Feel slightly obliged to pick this up day one as it looks like the tram is creating something relatively original and I'd really like to support that, but let's see what the reviews say
I'm not sure about this game. Something about it looks a bit like the elex games which I tried and just could not stick with them as they felt really clunky. Maybe I'll bite in a sale.
Some design choices aside, the setting looked pretty nice from the start.
But I'm so tired of the sparkles powers. Poof and you're gone teleporting ✨✨✨
The leg movement looks a bit static as well. Kinda PS2ish.
@Specky It's def not a AAA game, the facial animations are basic. But it seems very good anyway
This game has had a lot of development problems over the last two years will be very surprised if it turns out good. I feel sorry for the Devs who have worked hard on it.
This is the one on GPU? Probably try it there I think
I was going to say, oh yet another Soulslike, boring but unlike most of them, it looks like it's doing its own thing with combat which is cool. I'm tired of all the ones just trying to be a direct Dark Souls clone.
Waiting for a deep sale. Playing lord of the fallen now which is keeping me entertained
@MFTWrecks I've never heard of Ashen. Have to give it a go.
@Rambo-kind I thought it was incredibly well-made. (I played on Switch, fwiw.) It has a unique drop-in/drop-out co-op system (be warned, some of the game is sort of crafted for co-op and can be extremely difficult for a solo player) that can make or break certain areas for you. But it IS able to be finished solo. It's just very very unforgiving.
Generally, though, its exploration and progression was quite satisfying and I adored the simplistic art style. It felt dream-like (even though some sections could be nightmare-inducingly hard).
It still stands as one of my favorites in the genre and I'm very proud to have soloed it.
